Instagram Metrics You Need to be Tracking If you want more sales

In my content, I've talked a bit about vanity metrics, and how they're not very substantial. For example, a post can get a lot of likes, but if those likes aren't getting you follows or click or sales does it matter?

So instead of focusing on the basic metrics that give us an ego boost, let's look at what you should focus on to track your overall success.

Actionable Metrics

Actionable metrics are the opposite of vanity metrics. They're the things that actually affect your business via Instagram.

Follower Growth:

Looking at your insights over the last month, what's your follower growth rate?

According to Flick.tech, the average follower growth is 1.2% a month. How does your rate compare to the average?

Reach

To grow your following and your client/customer base, you need to reach more people. Be sure to monitor which posts get the most reach

Engagement Rate

Your engagement rate shows that your content is valuable to your target audience by measuring the total engagement of a post against your total follower count. Because what good is having a large number of followers if they don't care enough about your content to engage with it?

Here's how you find it:

Engagement rate = (likes + comments + saves + shares) / Followers x 100

Averages depend on your industry but are typically between 1-5%.

Website Taps

You know your messaging is working when people are following your CTA and tapping the link in your bio. Whether it's a sales page, or a blog, or a subscription. Knowing which posts and what messages are speaking to your target audience enough for them to take action is powerful info to help you reach your sales goal.
